About GYROKINESIS

In our fast-paced, hectic society, both body and mind are constantly exposed to stress. We often fall into comfortable postures out of habit, but what feels familiar is not always beneficial to our health.

The GYROKINESIS® method, developed at the end of the 20th century on St. Thomas, draws inspiration from various sports disciplines such as yoga, tai chi, and swimming. This innovative approach encourages the body to function as an integrated whole, with all parts working harmoniously together in movement.

What is the GYROKINESIS® Method?

The GYROKINESIS® method offers a comprehensive body workout that opens energy pathways, stimulates the nervous system, increases freedom of movement, and builds functional strength through rhythmic movements.

This unique approach uses smooth, rhythmic movements that are easy on the joints. The method improves coordination, range of motion, breathing, and focus. Exercises are performed in various positions: standing, on a mat, and on specially designed stools, providing a versatile and effective workout.

Who is the GYROKINESIS® Method For?

The GYROKINESIS® method is accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels.

This approach is often beneficial for individuals with specific complaints or for those seeking faster recovery or rehabilitation after an injury.

Moreover, more and more dancers and top athletes are incorporating the GYROKINESIS® method into their training routine to keep their entire body supple and strong, which enhances their overall performance.

“I follow Gyrotonic training and am pain-free for the first time in a long time, a fantastic experience, that makes a person happy.”

- Pieter Spruit

Difference Between the GYROKINESIS® and GYROTONIC® Methods

The main difference between the GYROKINESIS® and GYROTONIC® methods lies in the use of equipment. GYROKINESIS® does not require machines, allowing these exercises to be performed anywhere: standing, sitting on a stool, or on the floor.

In our GYROTONIC® private sessions, we often provide additional GYROKINESIS® exercises for home practice.

In cases of severe complaints or during recovery from injuries, working with GYROTONIC® equipment may sometimes be more effective. In these cases, specific GYROKINESIS® home exercises can be an ideal supplement to the treatment.
